Oliver believes in evidence-based practices, resourcefulness and creativity in addressing challenges of daily living. In addition to private practice, his counselling background includes working with Vancouver Coastal Health's Sunshine Coast Behavioural Health and Substance Use Services located at Sechelt Hospital.

His formal education also includes completing UBC's Business Analysis, Bachelor of Education and Bachelor of Music programs.

In 2018, he consulted with Sechelt Public Library to update the collection of books and e-books on topics related to personal growth and emotional well-being.

Oliver is a benefactor of Soteria Alapítvány in Budapest, Hungary as well as other independently selected charities and underfunded organizations operating in the fields of health care and social sciences.

He collaborates with The Animation Playground (TAP) to produce playful, thoughtful and emotionally genuine animated films telling stories respectful of archetypes, literature, culture and history. In 2022, the animated short film The Forest and the Trees created by TAP opened the ANMTN film festival in Ukraine. In 2024, the Beirut International Children and Family Film Festival selected the same film for live screenings in Lebanese schools.

He has a research interest in how people interact within the context of relationship systems as a basis for improving organizational performance, including the performance of decentralized autonomous organizations (DAOs) emerging using Web3 blockchain technologies, and holds a related US patent.
